The prime minister of the Netherlands has become an unlikely folk hero and the object of collective gay desire after going viral multiple times because of his history-making win and how hot he and his fiancé look together.
After winning the Dutch general election late last year, Rob Jetten became the youngest and first openly gay prime minister in the country’s history. Those two facts would be enough for him to cement his place in politics, but his status rose even more when people realized that he’s set to marry a hockey star who is just as good-looking as he is.
Jetten and his bisexual fiancé, Nico Keenan, have gone viral over and over again since rising to fame, but it’s not all because people are thirsty for them; it’s also because their sweet moments together remind people that queer joy exists.

Keenan made headlines in February 2026 when he told Pink News that he “really related” to the episode of Heated Rivalry where hockey star Scott Hunter had to remain closeted despite falling in love with smoothie barista Kip Grady, only for the bisexual field hockey player to be forced to keep his affair with the future Dutch prime minister on the down low. The two men even racked up more than 3 million views when they recorded a TikTok to an audio clip from the show's first season.
“I was a closeted professional hockey player, so for me it was really hard,” Keenan said. “I felt really ashamed watching the show that I could put someone in that situation.”
When he got down on one knee
The two lovebirds cemented their fairytale relationship in the summer of 2024 when they announced their engagement while Keenan was competing in the Paris Olympics as part of the Argentina men’s national field hockey team. They made their plans to tie the knot public with an Instagram post captioned, “Soon we will be Mr & Mr.”
Election night hugs
When the results of the historic Dutch general election came through in November 2025 and it became clear that Jetten had been victorious, a photographer captured a tender moment between the new leader and his fiancé that quickly went viral on social media.
In the photos, Jetten and Keenan are embracing in a tight hug, with Keenan cradling the back of his partner’s head, and in a second shot, the two share huge smiles as they hold onto each other.
The Paris Olympics
Of the two men, Jetten may be more well known for making headlines, but Keenan’s career as a field hockey star also brings him plenty of attention. When he competed at the Paris Olympics, the couple ended up turning heads together when Jetten was spotted in the stands wearing one of Keenan’s jerseys and cheering. Fans loved the photo of Jetten beaming down at Keenan from the stands as the two men reached for each other.

One of the couple’s most viral moments happened at the FIH Hockey World Cup when Keenan walked over to the stands to get a kiss and hug from Jetten, who bent over the railing to reach his fiancé while wearing one of Keenan’s jerseys. The sweet moment was caught on tape and went viral when it was posted on Instagram by the Royal Dutch Hockey Association and reposted by both men.
