When you see the handle @fayedunaway on Instagram, you know you're going to see some hilarious jokes, lots of celebrity cameos, and, of course, lots of Bowen Yang's handsome face. But the Oscar-winning actress who's name Yang posts under might be changing that soon.
On Live With Kelly and Ryan, the Saturday Night Live star said that there's a new development in the story of him using the legendary actresses' name as his Instagram handle.
"As of, like, two weeks ago, I've gotten word that she knows about me having the handle and she does actually want to come on SNL and confront me on live television," Yang told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
When the hosts asked him what that confrontation would look like, Yang gave more info.
"She wants it to be, like, maybe on [Weekend] Update," he said. "She gets brought out to talk about her social media handle being co-opted by this random Asian guy."
"I did not want this because I was like, truly, just some plebeian in Brooklyn," Yang said about choosing the social media handle back before he was famous. "[I thought] best-case scenario, her people reach out to me and give me like $20 and I give it to her. But now, there's a blue check next to my name. People might think that I'm the real Faye Dunaway!"
This isn't the first time Yang has joked about the real Dunaway confronting him. On The Tonight Show in 2021, Yang spoke with Jimmy Fallon about his hopes for the confrontation.
"It's interesting, but all I want is for Faye Dunaway -- the real, Oscar-winning actress -- to, like, sue me or something," he said. "I would go to court. I would get locked into the longest battle with her. All I want is just a cease-and-desist. Faye Dunaway, legendary actress Faye Dunaway, all I want is for you to reach out to me and call me 'that sniveling homosexual.'"

The "sniveling homosexual" line is in reference to a 2019 lawsuit in which Dunaway's former assistant alleged that she called him "a little homosexual boy."
Hopefully, for both Bowen, and for us, he gets the confrontation he's always wanted!
