LGBTQ+ Stars Swept the Shorty Awards 2020

Awards shows are going virtual and one of the first seems pretty fit for the job: now screening The 2020 Shorty Awards. Aimed at honoring the internet's brightest, buzziest, and most viral, the ceremony was streamed on Periscope and YouTube with J.B. Soove as host. Lindsey Vonn, Bobby Berk, and Jaime Camil served as presenters. Oh, and queer and trans folk swept up the wins.
We know the LGBTQ+ community basically runs the internet and determines what does and doesn't pop off so it's little wonder that queer and trans folks were heavily honored at The Shorty's -- but it doesn't make it any less worthy of applause. Of the winners our favorite, most memeable drag queen Jasmine Masters took home Gif of the Year for her much-used "And I -- oop" moment. You'll remember GIPHY also awarded her Top Gif of the Year for 2019. And she wasn't the only drag queen of the year asRuPaul's Drag Race season 9 winner Aquaria picked up Best In Fashion.
Others who took home awards included beauty brand owner and YouTuber Nikita Dragun, as well as soccer star Megan Rapinoe for Best In Beauty and Best in Sports respectively. Rose and Rosie snatched Best LGBTQ+ account while both Jameela Jamil and Eugene Lee Yang were honored with the Phenom Award, for entertainment and LGBTQ+ activism respectively.
