"I never thought that someday I would be able to do this,” says Jenner.

Vanity Fair released this gem of a short documentary that takes an inside-look at the making of the magazine's arguably most groundbreaking cover ever. Clocking in at 10 minutes, the exclusive features interviews of Jenner and editors as they collaborate on the "Call Me Caitlyn" debut. From planning at Vanity Fair's offices in New York to a top-secret shoot in Jenner's Malibu home, the production of this piece was a result of tireless work by many, many people.

Vanity Fair writes:

"The photos and text were put onto one computer that was off-line," explains associate managing editor Ellen Kiell. "Each day, the designer, copy editor, researcher would work on that one computer." When it came time to deliver the feature to the printer, Kiell flew to Lexington, Kentucky, to personally hand-deliver the finished product. Carter adds that the photo shoot and printer were safeguarded by the same security team that patrols the V.F.Oscar party.

The result? A tremendous, progressive step for the transgender movement. "I never thought that someday I would be able to do this," says Jenner, closing out the mini-doc.
