Frank Ocean Teases Cover of SZA’s “The Weekend” on Instagram

Frank Ocean and SZA

OK, but where is the album?

We finally found out what Frank Ocean was hiding in his oversized Celine bag.

On Wednesday morning, the Grammy-winning singer teased fans on his Instagram story with a cover of SZA's CTRL single "The Weekend." In the clip, you can hear Ocean crooning lyrics from the song's chorus.

Ocean made his Instagram public -- and teased new music -- in November. In a GQ interview with the co-hosts of his Apple Music show "Blonded Radio," he said he chose to make it public to address a "dissonance" between how people saw him and who he was. He also cited, "the idea of dialogue and discourse and conversation -- like theater, where the audience can interrupt you, versus the television."

Though Ocean famously promised his fans five albums before he turned 30, the 31-year-old singer has not yet delivered on the fifth one. In 2017, he said the fifth album is done, but he just hasn't released it yet. His last full-length project was 2016's Blonde.

Though the whole clip has not yet been released, it seems from the clip that none of the lyrics have been changed, including the he/him pronouns of the lover in the song. Ocean, who came out publicly as having been in relationships with men in an open letter on Tumblr in 2012, has often used he/him pronouns to identify lovers in his music. Other artists like Sam Smith have caught heat for avoiding gender-specific pronouns in their lyrics.

Meanwhile, the original singer of "The Weekend," SZA, received an Academy Award nomination on Tuesday for penning "All the Stars" from Black Panther.
