Donald Trump, a billionaire businessman from New York and reality television personality, secured a shocking electoral victory in November 2016 against Hillary Clinton, despite losing the popular vote. During the campaign, Trump’s defamatory and poorly researched claims about minority communities, especially African-American and Latino ones, gave many Americans pause. Not only did he threaten Americans of color, but he disparaged women, threatening to defund Planned Parenthood. On top of all this, Trump chose as his vice-president Mike Pence, a former Indiana governor with a track record of pushing unpopular anti-LGBT legislation that landed him in hot water and cost Indiana thousands of jobs.
