One of the most delightful surprises of last season, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend returns this Friday with a truck-load of critical praise, a few trophies under its belting belt, and a new theme song:

The titular crazy ex-gf and show co-creator Rachel Bloom explained to Vulture that they originally wanted to go for a Mary Tyler Moore-esque number, but they lost their "boner" for the idea when Netflix's quirktastic Lady Dynamite pulled the nostalgic rug right from under them.
"We wanted to do something unique to our show and we realized we haven't had a really big dance-y dance number since the pilot," Bloom says. "We thought it would be fun to do a Bugsy [sic] Berkeley-type number, so we reworked the '70s song into a '20s, '30s bouncy number."
The theme song will change each season, so let's hope there are more seasons to house all these tunes since, while high on a lot of critics' list, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has struggled to find an audience. But with some more inspired musical numbers, like the following which is serving you a glass of Beyonce-approved Lemonade, Crazy could transcend its cult status to become a bona fide hit:
