From the beautiful, bittersweet montage of its opening credits to its emotional, metaphor-laced season finale, Transparent was the new show to beat in 2014 -- not that anyone really could. In January, the Amazon series scooped up a Golden Globe, while its star, Jeffrey Tambor, won a Globe and an Emmy for his portrayal of Maura Pfefferman, a retired college professor who comes out as transgen- der to her ex-wife and three grown-up children. So what's in store for our favorite heroine in the dramedy's second season (premiering December 11)?
"Maura's season 1 arc revolved around her blossoming into femininity for the first time," says Transparent's executive producer, Andrea Sperling. "Season 2 is about the growing pains of this identity once it's been actualized. This plays out in her love life as well. She'll explore old relation- ships and perhaps new ones." Sold -- not that we needed any convincing.
