Directed by Kelly Teacher for Out.
Tina Burner had a "messy" coming out to her father.
In Out's "Spilling the Tea on Me" series, the drag star reveals that, while still a high schooler, her parent walked into her bedroom while she was sleeping in bed with another boy.
"He didn't know how to process it," Burner shares about her father's reaction. "It took my dad a minute, but he still loved me no matter what. And when you think there's no support in that family, you'd be surprised."
Burner actually knew she wanted to be a drag performer at a younger age; her debut was as a third-grader on Halloween when she dressed up as her mother in a blue floral-print dress. In fact, Burner's mom, who said she knew that her son was gay from "the womb," continues to inspire Burner's drag persona.
"She's funny, she's brave, she's loud," Burner says. "I tend to be a little shy and Tina Burner on the opposite is just like no-holds-barred tackle."
In addition to familial support, Burner also feels most like herself as a drag performer with lashes, heels, and BOTOX® Cosmetic. "There's nothing worse than your moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet on full display," she says about performing in public. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA approved to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines look better in adults.

What prompted your decision to seek a BOTOX® Cosmetic consultation?
I decided to seek a BOTOX® Cosmetic consultation for a few reasons. First off, as a drag performer, my face is the first thing people see, in or out of drag. I work many late nights and long hours. There's nothing worse than your moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet on full display. But I still wanted to look like myself, just with fewer lines.
What were you most surprised by after you were treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic?
I was super surprised about the BOTOX® Cosmetic injection, it felt like a pinch! There is minimal downtime, and I was able to get right back into my day. Perfect for a girl on the go!
What do you like about BOTOX® Cosmetic?
I spend my life performing for people, and BOTOX® Cosmetic is my opportunity to do something for myself!
