Blood Orange (aka Devonte Hynes) channels '90s R&B in "Chewing Gum" (feat. A$AP Rocky and Project Pat). The soft track is featured on his new album, Negro Swan, which explores black depression and queer anxiety.
"My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color," says Hynes. "A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of hope and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness."
In the video, he's accompanied by collaborator, A$AP Rocky. Directed by Hynes, it features the duo riding ATVs through a desert at dusk. In slow motion, they theatrically wave blue and pink satin scarves through the wind.
