"A diva is the female version of a hustla", Beyonce screams at us in "Diva". And the Lemonade Queen is walking the walk. The singer announced yesterday she has become a "meaningful" shareholder in WTRMLN WTR, a three-year old company focused on cold-pressed watermelon sports drinks, Billbard reports.
"I invested in WTRMLN WTR because it's the future of clean, natural hydration; as partners, we share a simple mission to deliver accessible wellness to the world," Beyonce said in a statement. "This is more than an investment in a brand, it's an investment in female leaders, fitness, American farmers and the health of people and our planet."
The drink is made with the water from unused watermelons and "a drop of organic lemon juice" (we must wonder if Beyonce had anything to do with the addition of that lemon drop).
Beyonce becoming involved with WTRMLN WTR shouldn't come as a surprise. Disregarding pesky black stereotypes, she's been professing her love for watermelon on the regular:
She even got Nicki in on it:
Criticized for becoming a spokesperson for Pepsi back in 2013, Beyonce seems to be righting her wrongs by intensely promoting a health-conscious lifestyle. In the past, she collaborated with her trainer, Marco Borges, to promote a 22-day vegan challenge and recently launched "Ivy Park," an athleisure line in partnership with Topshop.
Keep on drankin' your watermelon, gurl.
