Ian McKellen to Play Cogsworth in Live-Action Beauty and the Beast

Ian McKellen is the name to join the impressive cast of Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. In the animated film, Cogsworth, the beast / prince's butler, acted as comic relief, constantly bickering with his candelabra counterpart, Lumiere.

McKellen will star alongside Emma Watson (Belle), Dan Stevens (Beast), Kevin Kline (Maurice), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (Le Fou), and Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts) in the film, slated for a March 2017 release. Now all that's left is to pray they pair McKellen's Cogsworth with someone he can easily banter with - need we hold our breath for his BFF, Patrick Stewart?
