As an actor, Andrew Scott has emerged as one of the most electrifying talents of his generation. From donning the robes of the "hot priest" in Fleabag to breaking hearts in the soulful All of Us Strangers, Scott has a proven command of different genres and giving nuance to characters from all walks of life.
With Elsinore, Scott has gifted the world a career-defining role in his portrayal of the late gay actor Ian Charleson, as he set out to stage a final performance of Hamlet while he battled AIDS. As Scott says in his Out100 cover story, “He saw this opportunity that not many actors get, which is to play the greatest part that’s ever been written for an actor in one of the world’s greatest theaters. He nailed his colors to the mast as an actor, and that’s what he decided to do with his time. I find that so extraordinarily moving and inspiring."
As Out's Icon of the Year, Scott has nailed his colors to the mast as well. “I’m just so grateful to have been born gay,” he declares. Don't miss the full piece with photography by Quil Lemons.
