The Ministry of Justice in Greece made an announcement today that for the first time in the country's history, it would be spearheading legislation to give civil union rights to same-sex couples.
According to The Pappas Post, the bill includes legislation on issues such as rights on taxation, insurance, inheritance, and other liberties granted to heterosexual Greek couples.
Considering that Greece's left-wing political party, Syriza, has majority in the parliament, a decision on the matter is expected to passed smoothly. The vote is due to take place in early July.
