"Hey Now!" unpacks social issues of the past and present.
In a new video for their song "Hey Now!", The Regrettes give their version of an American bandstand TV show with drag king Murray Hill serving as their creepy show host.
The video follows the band as they face racist social norms and uncomfortably sexist comments before getting on stage.
"In the video we address a lot of issues, such as racism, misogyny, and LGBTQ rights, to point out the fact that though these were all issues that were very alive in the 50s and 60s, we still face all these same problems today," said lead singer Lydia Night. "Obviously things are generally much better when it comes to these problems, but the fact that they still exist is sad and an issue in itself."
But don't worry, the band's issues are remedied right as the music starts and the crowd enters a frenzy.
