Give Jessica her Oscar nomination, NOW!

Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain plays famous televangelist and noted LGBTQ+ ally Tammy Faye Bakker in Searchlight Pictures's newest biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and we can already smell the awards season nominations from here!

Over-the-top and heartfelt all at once, the upcoming film chronicles the rise and fall of late personality Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker). Alongside her first husband Jim Bakker (played by one of our other fave Oscar nominees Andrew Garfield), Tammy Faye rose to national prominence in the '70s and '80s as the co-founder of The PTL Club (short for "Praise the Lord"), a Christian-themed news/talk show (and eventual TV network) that was very popular amongst middle America and shot her to fame and fortune!

Known for her larger-than-life glam persona (not many "good Christian wives" wore bright makeup, sang songs, and flirted on national TV during those days), Tammy Faye was also a big supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and made TV history when she conducted a very compassionate and empathetic live interview with AIDS activist Steve Pieters (played by Randy Havens in the film).

Out has an exclusive clip from The Eyes of Tammy Faye that perfectly shows off just how much of an LGBTQ+ ally Tammy Faye was in real life!

"I love our country, but America is for them too," Chastain's Tammy Faye says, responding to conservative televangelist and noted homophobe Jerry Falwell (Vincent D'Onofrio) and his claims that America is being ruined by liberals, feminists, and the queer community.

"I don't think of them as homosexuals, I just think of them as other human beings that I love," Tammy Faye continues. "You know we're all just people, made out of the same old dirt. And God didn't make any junk!"

Amen, Tammy Faye! Amen!

The Eyes of Tammy Faye hits theaters on September 17!
