Well, we are one step closer to seeing Billy Porter in James Corden's modern, live-action remake of the classic fairytale Cinderella. The production has finally announced a release date.
Announced in 2019, the upcoming film will feature Camila Cabello in her acting debut, leading the production as Cinderella. She is said to be involved in the soundtrack of the movie as well which, is to be expected. The project will take the age-old tale and modernize it. The specifics on how extensively it will be modernized have yet to be released but we are holding out hope that it'll be good.
Of the updates: the Fairy Godmother will have a bit of a genderless appeal. The noted talent Billy Porter signed on to the role with Sony and has since announced how he plans to portray the integral figure.
"We are presenting this character as genderless -- at least that's how I'm playing it," he said in an interview. "And it's really powerful." On set, they've been reportedly calling this new version "Fab G." All we have to say is if he gives it the same energy he gave Lola and "Land of Lola" in Kinky Boots, he can do whatever he wants!
Now, we all know when we'll be able to finally see this update. People Magazine has confirmed the new project will launch on February 5, 2021.
