I remember when (and I'm dating myself here) I was in high school and I was a huge Bjork fan and people would say to me, "Oh my god, I love Bu-jork, too!" I'd just bite my tongue and internally revel in the fact that I was a real fan, and was deigning to talk with a mere amateur. Working in fashion, a similar situation exists. The industry has its own patois, and depending on whom you're speaking with, the name certain brands can vary. Admittedly, it's difficult. If you're American, and you're saying the name of a French brand, do you say it with an accent enfrancais and sound all pretentious? Or do you just say it in your everyday cadance at the risk of sounding like a hick? It's all so stressful. Below is a video demonstrating the "proper" ways to enunciate those tricky high-end, foreign monikers. You'll sound like a real fashion pro after this seminar in the linguistic intricacies of the fashion world...maybe.
