[Ed note: Andrew Mukamal, co-star of the new Bravo reality TV show Kell on Earth featuring fashion PR guru Kelly Cutrone, will be filing daily dispatches from New York Fashion Week. Continue to check back at Truman Says for his personal lowdown on everything that goes down on the runways, backstage, and beyond.]
Kicked off Day 3 of NYFW with a long leisurely brunch with Kelly, Skinner and UK based artist, Kate Moross at Sanctuary T (ginger green tea and extra crispy bacon....again...). Then headed back to the office to continue with fashion week prep work. With a surprisingly quiet office, Grace was able to get started on the seating chart for the Davidelfin show for next week. Kelly let me break away from my desk for a quick shopping trip to IF Boutique with my buddy, and Esquire's Fashion Market Editor, Nic Screws. Just as Nic had to race off to Patrik Ervell, I sprinted back to the office (with the fox fur fringe trim on my black leather Alexander Wang Hoody flowing in the wind) for Showstudio's live stream of Alexander Wang's show (side-note: Nick Knight and the crew at Showstudio are revolutionizing/bringing an end to the fashion week ritual as we know it).
As the whole People's Revolution crew sat glued to their computer screens, Wang showed a very 90's-Noir collection, highlighted by chunky heeled boots paired with thigh-high leg warmers, oversize backpacks with sheer streamers attached, cropped tops and some killer black lace and mesh (all perfectly suited for a re-make of the 90's cult flick The Craft, one of my all-time favorites...duh). While Wang's show was definitely impressive, it was Givenchy-alum Joseph Altuzarra's black and red, vampy-leather and velvet collection that has proven to be the most talked about show of the week as of yet. As if the thigh-exposing slits and hyper-sexy cutout dresses and skirts weren't good enough, Abbey Lee stole the show in a black leather body suit that looks like a concoction Tim Burton (aka GOD) would have dreamed up for one of his heroines (Catwoman or maybe Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas).
After a few hours of getting my fashion fix, I headed uptown with Skinner to support our client, David Delfin at a party at the Grace Hotel that was being held in his honor. As the creme-de-la-creme of the Spanish fashion crowd mingled around the hotel's multi-colored pool, I chatted with David and his partner Gorka about his upcoming collection. Decided to opt out of the Opening Ceremony party at the Ace hotel and headed home to catch last week's episode of Big Love and rest up. More news tomorrow from the insanity that is NYFW.
