If you have solar-based powers and don’t make yourself a flying rainbow, are you even trying?

Marvel fans old and new are in for a treat next month when Runaways premieres on Hulu, bringing Karolina Dean to full, live-action realization.

Dean is one of six teenagers who, after finding out their parents are part of an evil cult-like organization, set out to stop them by fighting back. In the comics, Dean is part of an alien race that can harness and manipulate solar energy, which manifests itself in a prismatic aura around the teen. Oh, and she's also a blatant lesbian, going as far to refuse the proposal of a prince, which would unite their two worlds, until he shapeshifts into a girl.

Understandably, loyal fans of the series are worried Dean may lose some of her beloved character traits in the transition from page to screen (Constantine, much?). Though there's no official word on Dean's sexuality in the series, there are plenty of cliche teasers that have been released about the character, played by Virginia Gardner. "Karolina Dean, model-perfect exterior with a lot going on behind her professionally whitened smile, is burdened by the lofty expectations and responsibilities put upon her by her parents," the character description of Dean reads. "Underneath her veneer of privilege and perfection, Karolina is experiencing a newfound eagerness to explore her identity and pursue her own desires."

Fans' worries were assuaged further when, at New York Comic Con, showrunners said they'd be staying true to the source material, according to comicbook.com. The series premieres exclusively on Hulu November 21. Watch the trailer, below.
