Tina Fey Goes To Second With Amy Schumer

Tina Fey Kiss Amy Schumer

The two comedy queens lip-locked at the Peabody Awards

Last night was a big night for television. While some were busy watching Taraji P. Henson snatch "Best Actress" at the Critics Choice Awards, two comedy titans embraced in a passionate lesbian lip-lock.

That's right, superstar Tina Fey presented a Peabody to Comedy Central's hilarious up-and-comer Amy Schumer (if you haven't already, catch up on Inside Amy Schumer). As she gave Schumer the trophee, Fey swooped in for a trip to second base, to the delight of the crowd.

Before the smooch, Fey only had good words for her protegee: "Amy Schumer is killing it, as the agents like to say. Usually they are lying. But in this case it is true. Amy is killing it. She is the biggest deal in comedy right now."

Queen Fey has a point: Schumer's critically-acclaimed show has recently been renewed for a fourth season, and her new film, Trainwreck, (which she wrote and plays the lead in) is scheduled for a July 17 release.

Fey continued: "I really wanted to come down here tonight, and in a Madonna kind of way try to like feed off of her youth and maybe suck her soul out in a very awkward, staged lesbian kiss. But when I pitched that idea to Amy's camp, they came back with such an immediate yes that it kind of grossed me out."

The kiss went well, although probably to many readers' disappointment, the pair isn't expected to run off together anytime soon: Fey is married and has two children.

The Peabody awards, which recognize outstanding work in television, radio, and web content, also honored programs such as Adventure Time, Portlandia, NPR's Serial, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Click here to see the full list of winners.
