Susie Says is the collaborative effort between the infamous New York fixture, downtown chanteuse, and performance artist Justin Vivian Bond and writer, photographer, and doll enthusiast Gina Garan. The image-heavy novel stars the blank-eyed Susie in over 60 photographs of her dressed in uber-fashionable apparel covering a range of styles--from vintage to uniquely customized couture ensembles. Each of Garan's photographs feel like a high fashion editorial (but for dolls, who--face it--are probably a lot easier to work with than models) and includes Susie's hilarious and bizarre musings written by the 'International superstar performer' Bond. We learn to never judge a book by its cover but it's safe to say this book is strangely fabulous and a must-read this summer.
