It takes a certain pluck to troll Hollywoods trendiest haunts for shots of Britney sans panties, but capturing the Queen of England perched on her bathroom throne is another feat entirely. In her new book, Confidential (Taschen, $39.99), artist Alison Jackson boldly showcases the latter -- sort of.
Her grainy snaps of British royalty and superstars in compromising positions -- including a lipstick-covered Prince William wrestling with his gal pal in bed, and a wedding gownclad Elton John giving the finger -- are actually photos of celebrity doppelgngers.
The subjects often bear a creepy resemblance to the real deals, but Jacksons racy, voyeuristic tableaux are not driven by malice. People want to believe their imagination rather than dealing with gritty reality, she recently told The Sunday Times of London. Because reality is incredibly disappointing!
