Patti LuPone Slams Lindsey Graham by…Calling Him Gay?

Patti LuPone says Lindsey Grhaam should "bite the bullet and come out" as gay.

The dude supports concentration camps! Why not focus on that??

On Thursday afternoon, Patti LuPone tweeted criticism of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham that many have rightfully deemed homophobic.

"Lindsey Graham you are a disgrace," LuPone tweeted.

So far, so good -- right? Just wait.

"On a personal note, why don't you just bite the bullet and come out," the Broadway legend continued. "You might just come to your senses."

In other words: You suck, so you must be a closeted gay man. Woof! And not in the Scruff way.

LuPone's tweet echoes that old cliche that says that homophobic public figures, particularly politicans and clergy members, are secretly queer themselves.

While there's certainly an historical precedent for that (Remember George Rekers? Larry Craig?) and Graham has been an absolute anti-gay nightmare throughout his congressional tenure (speaking out against same-sex marriage, voting against LGBTQ+ protections in the workplace...), claiming that homophobes are secretly gay implies that being gay is something to be ashamed of. It also suggests that gays are responsible for their own oppression. Besides ... some people just hate gay people! The world sucks, but that's just the way it is! If all of the famous, powerful homophobes were on Grindr this whole time, the dick pics would've leaked by now! Trust me. They just hate gays.

Besides, there are plenty of actual, concrete things to criticize Lindsey Graham for, like defending the Trump administration's concentration camps for Central American migrants or furthering the president's dangerous, racist rhetoric against representatives Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

So please, Patti, it just takes an ounce more creativity than what you're giving us right now. We've all fallen down a YouTube hole of your best onstage performances. We know you can manage that.
