Upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might be the finale of the film trilogy, but if the studio has any thoughts of a revival, actor Oscar Isaac has some ideas. In a new interview, the actor reveals that he supports the idea of a gay romance between Finn and Poe -- the two characters who were introduced in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“Oscar Isaac describes the “deep, deep connection” between Poe and Finn and getting to spend more time with @JohnBoyega and Daisy Ridley in #TheRiseOfSkywalker.”— Entertainment Weekly (@Entertainment Weekly) 1574101800
"I think that there is a deep, deep connection between the two of them," Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, told Entertainment Weekly. Finn is played by John Boyega. "There's a deep deep connection between me and John; These guys love each other."
He continued: "And I think that that ended up working out really well because - particularly in the new film - we get to work together a lot. You really get to see Finn and Poe figuring stuff out together. They're on missions together; there's a lot of camaraderie."
But seemingly in an answer to a question about whether or not the pair will ever that chemistry will develop into something more -- the question is never explicitly asked on camera -- Isaac says that's "something out of my hands."
"The truth is, as a performer... I can only do so much, cause I don't write the scripts, other than say I would think that that would be a great way for the story to go and a much more original one," he explained. "But I think that, at least, what we can say is that it holds that potential,"
Star Wars:The Rise of Skywalker is set to be released in the United States on December 20.
