The Game of Thrones alum talks to Out about being a part of Chloé Zhao's epic, and inclusive, superhero masterpiece.

Warning! Some Eternals spoilers ahead!

After years and years and years of waiting, LGBTQ+ Marvel fans are going to finally be blessed with the kind of meaningful representation they've been wanting when they get introduced to gay hero Phastos (and his loving husband and son) in the Chloe Zhao-directed blockbuster epic Eternals! And that kind of groundbreaking inclusion isn't lost on the film's star-studded cast. In fact, it was the exact reason why some of the actors, like Game of Thones alum and past Out cover star Kit Harington, wanted to be a part of the project in the first place!

Out got the chance to speak with Harington, who stars in the film in the supporting role of Dane Whitman (who comic book fans know better as The Black Knight) about the MCU finally getting more diverse heroes, the romantic aspect of the film, what we hopes happens for the future of his character, and so much more!

"I'm incredibly proud and happy that I am," Harington, who once rightfully criticized mainstream superhero movies for not featuring any substantial queer representation, told Out when asked what it was like being introduced into the MCU in such a history-making film. "I've said before, I don't know why we haven't got LGBTQ+ representation in superhero movies and in this one we do, and that's just so important. I think it is such a moment, and all I can hope is that this is the start of many, many more."

"Phastos is one of my favorite characters in this, he's awesome," he continued: "It actually was a big reason I wanted to be part of this."

Eternals is now playing in theaters.
