Watch: Stephen Colbert Makes the Argument for Gays in Space
First, the mainstream acceptance of brunch. Tomorrow, the galaxy.
It only makes sense that since gays are such cultural forward-thinkers that we'll be some of the first to adopt and adapt to life in space. But if it were up to certain old, uneducated, bald white men we might never even make it there.
On Monday night's episode of The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert had some rebuttals for Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert, who recently said that when people eventually move to space colonies "as Matt Damon did in the movie," that gay men and women shouldn't be considered because they can't have children.
Ignoring the fact that Gohmert bases his knowledge of space colonization on a movie that, though it had commendable and realistic science, is still fiction, his follow-up comparison to Noah's Ark just gave Colbert a chance to bible fact-check him. Watch below, and think of the wonderful possibilities of a Fifth Element future.
