Rejoice! Dave Franco's Character Will Be Gay in Neighbors 2

Neighbors 2

The Franco boys just love playing gay.

God is real! After shooting loads of titillating scenes stuffed with homoerotic tension, the director of Neighbors 2 just revealed that Dave Franco's character, Pete, will finally come out of the closet.

The announcement came from director Nicholas Stroller while promoting the film, saying he was inspired to make our favorite twink gay after realizing there were no gay characters in his past films (props to the concentrated effort at diversity).

Stroller says he toyed with the idea of making Zac Efron's character the gay one, but looked back and realized Dave's character was bursting with bicuriousity.

"Clearly, we're playing with the homoerotic tension [in the first film]," Stroller said, "and I was like, 'He should just be gay.' Then in this one, it came up again. [Co-writer] Evan Goldberg brought it up, and he said, 'I think he should be gay, and part of [his arc] should be the proposal.' It was kind of all of us coming to the same conclusion."

But there's bad news... Franco's character doesn't have that much screen time in the film.

"Even though I'm not on screen for a significant amount of time, hopefully it will be very memorable," Franco said. "And of course I was excited to try something new with the character while still maintaining his essence."

But Dave could right his wrongs by providing us with more GIF-ready love scenes. tumblr_nb53aouodq1qf2zyko3_250.gif

While we wait in titling anticipation, (re)watch Franco bang himself in this hilarious Funny or Die skit:
