Maroon 5 Goes on the Run in ‘Pokémon Go’ Inspired Video
“I don’t know If I want to be like, silly.”
Adam Levine has been thought and fantasized about so many different times, in so many different ways, that the decision to garb Maroon 5 and celebrity friends in mascot-quality Pokemon-esque suits for their video for "Don't Wanna Know" probably fulfilled someone's dreams.
Yes, we know they aren't representing any actual pokemon with their outfits, and as badly as we want to see Levine dressed as a real Squirtle and not his big-eyed, tongue-lolling cousin, the royalties and fees involved would probably be astronomical. Instead we get a tongue turtle, an Ed Helms eggplant, and Sarah Silverman as an orange with a top-pony among others.
The video could be some overarching metaphor about how we dehumanize and commodify celebrities in our fame-driven culture, pointing specifically at the lack of privacy famous people have to live with. Or, maybe they just love Pokemon! Watch below.
