Since YouTube star Ingrid Nilsen came out last year in a video on her channel (a video that has been viewed more than 13 million times to date), the 26-year-old has grown into a far more politically-focused role than her beginnings as a lifestyle vlogger would have suggested. Recently, she was one of three YouTubers invited to a sit-down with President Barack Obama at the White House. She raised issues and concerns that the President was aware of--like LGBT rights--and those he wasn't, like the fact that 40 states tax feminine hygine products as "luxury" items.
"I don't know anyone who has a period that thinks it's a luxury," Nilsen said.
