The I Am Michael star spoke to MTV at Sundance about the Supreme Court’s upcoming hearing.

It's been a slow, steady process to legalize gay marriage in the United States. Over a decade ago, way back in 2004, Massachusetts became the first state to allow same-sex marriage, with trickling progress across the country ever since.

Zachary Quinto, who stars alongside James Franco and Charlie Carver in the film I Am Michael, spoke with MTV recently at the Sundance Film Festival about the Supreme Court's hearing coming up this summer on gay marriage.

"I'm actually thrilled, and guardedly anticipating that whole wave," he explains, "The final wave of the legal battle of equality, which hopefully will continue in the same way that it has on the state level."
