On Monday, Kendrick Lamar was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music for his most recent album, DAMN. The album is the first-ever hip-hop album to win the prize. He's also the first musician to win the prize that is not a jazz or classical artist.
"It shines a light on hip-hop in a completely different way," said Dana Canedy, the administrator of the Prizes, about DAMN. "This is a big moment for hip-hop music and a big moment for the Pulitzers."
