Over 100 members of Star Trek's cast, creative teams, and crewmembers endorsed a letter on the official Trek Against Trump Facebook page, which read: "Never has there been a presidential candidate who stands in such complete opposition to the ideals of the Star Trek universe as Donald Trump. His election would take this country backward, perhaps disastrously. We need to elect a president who will move this country forward into the kind of future we all dream of."
The letter, which denounced Trump as an "an amateur with a contemptuous ignorance of national laws and international realities," said that to take steps towards the ideal future that the original creators of Star Trek imagined and wanted for the world, it was the voter's responsibility to keep Trump out of office.
The message then praised Hillary Clinton for her experiences in government and her devotion to public service. It also advised voters against voting Green or Libertarian because to think anyone besides Clinton or Trump could be elected into office would be "illogical and inaccurate."
The letter closed with a call to arms for those who are eligible to register to vote and was signed by the likes of J.J. Abrams, Wil Wheaton, George Takei, Chris Pine, and LeVar Burton, among other big names within the franchise. Read the full letter here.
