The group’s president called response to their fundraising efforts “pathetic.”
Fighting marriage equality is becoming so unpopular that one of the major conservative organizations against LGBT rights is having a hard time filling its coffers.
The National Organization for Marriage emailed supporters this week chastising them for a slow fundraising campaign that has only produced 256 contributions--17 percent of their goal.
"That is pathetic," said NOM president Brian Brown. He said that without more financial support, the group will have to cut "critical programs" meant to counteract "LGBT extremists and their allies in government."
While many right-wing groups are fighting to reverse the Supreme Court decision last June legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states, most conservatives have rallied behind other issues such as "religious freedom" laws and transgender rights.
