Miley Cyrus is diving even deeper into her rock era by announcing a new album of Metallica covers. The best part: there are some killer collaborators on board.
In an interview with Capital FM, Cyrus revealed that she's working on an upcoming cover of Metallica's hit "Nothing Else Matters," and she's bringing pop icon Elton John along with her.
"I did a Metallica cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' featuring Elton John on the piano," she told Capital FM, "I've got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith. So many all-stars in this band." Smith is the drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"I'm so excited about this collaboration," she continued. "I'm really stoked."
"I mean, having Elton John and Metallica and me ... I love when ingredients don't quite fit," she added. "Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk."
Back in an October interview with Interview Magazine, Cyrus first announced the project after a reporter asked her why she was doing her part of the interview from someone else's bed. "There is a story behind it," she answered, "We've been working on a Metallica cover album and I'm here working on that."
No release date, album name, or track list has been announced yet, but fans are hungry for more rock'n'roll Miley and Miley looks ready to deliver exactly that.
Cyrus recently released her seventh studio album, the 80's rock inspired Plastic Hearts, which features collaborations with Dua Lipa, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, and Stevie Nicks.
