22 Transgender Artists to Support During Bandcamp's Friday Fundraiser

Bandcamp has launched a Friday fundraiser to support the Transgender Law Center, a nonprofit organization that "works to change law, policy and attitudes so that people can life safely, authentically and free from discrimination." Through midnight Pacific Time, the site has agreed to donate 100 percent of their share of every sale today--that's 15 percent on digital items and 10 percent on physical goods. More than 200 labels and artists have joined Bandcamp in donating Friday's profits, as well. (That list can be viewed, here).

Today's fundraiser arrives at a particularly important time, both politically and culturally. Last week, President Trump sent a loud discriminatory message to the world, when he banned trans people from serving in the military and collectively called them a "burden." As discussions on trans rights entered the forefront of conversation, comedian Lil Duval told Breakfast Club listeners he'd murder a woman if he discovered she was trans--and all this happening as this year's 16th trans woman of color was shot dead in Georgia.
