Disney Pulls Beauty and the Beast From Malaysia Instead of Censoring its ‘Gay Moment’

Happy never after. 

Not everyone is looking for their perfect Disney happily ever after. After it was revealed that LeFou, Gaston's right-hand man, would have an "exclusively gay moment" in the upcoming live-action reimagining of the film, homophobic outcry cropped up both at home and abroad. Now, Disney is taking a firm stance on how it will deal with the backlash.

"The film has not and will not be cut for Malaysia," Disney said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg, regarding a request from Malaysia's Film Censorship Board to cut more than four minutes of the film because of a subplot involving a "gay moment."
