Although the end of the first season of Murphy's 'American Horror Story' was plenty fun in a strange sort of way. Viewers were left perplexed at how there could possibly be a followup. We know that Season 1 cast members Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe will return, but it won't be in the same roles or even in the same spooky manse. Instead, they'll be playing the opposite of the characters they embodied in the first year of the FX series. Got it?
Now Murphy has given another hint, according to THR, "[Season 2] is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica," Murphy said during a Wednesday panel promoting the series at the TV Academy in North Hollywood.
We'll also apparently find the cast in a new era. "It's a completely different world and has nothing to do with Season 1; there's not a mention of Season 1," Murphy said. "The second season is set in a completely different time period."
And what about Adam Levine, the sexy new castmember ready to spirit viewers away from the delightfully naked Dylan McDermott?
"He's a sexy guy, so he needs to play a sexy guy -- but the guy that is different than who you think he would play," Murphy said. "I pitched him the part and he listened, slack-jawed, and simply said, 'I'm in.' The second season is fun, sexy and baroque. It has a lot of meat to it; it's a really gritty part. He's with a girl, and they play characters called The Lovers." Does that mean he may get in some sort of kinky latex suit? We'll just have to wait and see.
Still no word as to whether Quinto will play another psycho gay guy or do something completely new. But our favorite Spock actor will obviously be great no matter what Murphy throws at him.
