Rick Santorum is Praying For Dan Savage

Santorum-savage

The hopeful GOP candidate responds to man on dog controversy

It all started back in 2003 when we first got a glimpse of the Republican presidential hopeful, Rick Santorum. Although he's a Senator from Pennsylvania, a fairly liberal state, he made remarks on the record with The Associated Press likening homosexuality to man-on-dog sex. Since then, Santorum has inadvertently became synonymous with a term coined by sex columnist Dan Savage that linked his name to the "sexual neologism" that would pop up and make headlines around the country.

The Huffington Post now reports that Santorum has responded to the criticism of Savage, stating, "I would tell him that I'm praying for him. He obviously has some serious issues. You look at someone like that who can say and do the things that he's doing and you just pray for him and hopefully he can find peace."

With constant negative controversy being sparked by Santorum's views on gay rights, it's becoming increasingly hard to imagine the White House hopefully actually making the republican ticket. In response to Santorum, Dan Savage replied via, The Stranger calling attention to the fact that Santorum spends an "inordinate amount of time" thinking about other people's sex lives.

We couldn't have said it better.

"The man who wants to get his hands on the nuclear football so he can micromanage your sex life [...] thinks I have issues," Savage wrote. "That's hilarious."

In the video below, Rachel Maddow offers more background on how the fight between Savage and Santorum has evolved.
