Marc Jacobs E-Commerce Revealed!

As we reported last week, Marc Jacobs President, Robert Duffy promised that the label would be unveiling a new e-commerce site this week. Yesterday evening, he delivered. The whimsical little site features a cartoon-y replication of an physical store, complete with with avatar salespeople to guide you through the shop.

First impressions are lasting, and we like that the site is an well-thought out, clever extension of the MJ brand; it's a fun take on the online shopping experience plus it's oozing with personality and accessibility--unlike other online retailers which can be cold and stuffy. Our only gripe? The clothing that is, in fact, available, is very limited. The women's collection only offers three items (including a $7,900 Alpaca fur coat), while the boys are only offered one item--a field jacket--in two colors. What gives? The Marc by Marc collection is expectedly a bit more extensive, but not by much, and there are some more options for accessories, with a pretty big push on fragrances. While we love the hipster/grunge looking digital salespeople (the Asian girl with two-toned hair is our fave), we're wanting a bit more variety when it comes to actual product selection. But, never fear, the site is still an infant, and we have high hopes that it will grow into a strapping young lad one day.
