Sarah Paulson Fights Clown Phobia, Has a Wife and Kid in Preview for AHS: Cult

Sarah Paulson Fights Clown Phobia, Has a Wife and Kid in Preview for AHS: Cult

AHS Cult

The new season will focus on the aftermath of the election when it premieres in September.

"If you get people scared enough, they will set the world on fire." Those are the words of warning that Evan Peters utters in the chilling first preview for American Horror Story: Cult. We already knew that new season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series was set to focus on the election and bees, but now it also looks to focus heavily on clowns, too.

In the minute-long clip that follows yesterday's reveal of the Trump and Clinton-starring opening credits, a dizzying series of storylines pick up where many of us seem to still be in shock--the election results of November 8th. As Donald Trump is announced as president, two scenes show two very different reactions. Sarah Paulson's character Ally screams in horror in Michigan while Evan Peters (rocking horrifying blue hair) screams in celebration before humping the TV.

The preview seems to focus primarily on how Ally deals with Trump's election, which involves an intensified phobia of clowns and manifests in the return of season four's Twisty the Clown. It's also the most overtly queer role for Paulson, yet. In Cult, Ally is married to Alison Pill's character and they have a young son.

We won't spoil anything else, but watch the preview below to get a look at where mainstay Cheyenne Jackson and newcomer Billie Lourd show up. AHS: Cult premieres on Tuesday, September 5th.
