An interview with Steven Cox and Daniel Silver of menswear line Duckie Brown

It's offical: New York Fashion Week has begun. Starting today, designers will begin showing their vision for fall 2012. First up are Steven Cox and Daniel Silver of the label Duckie Brown. We tried to peg the busy boys down for a few moments to catch up, but as you can imagine they were incredibly busy. We threw a dozen questions at the duo, and this is what we got.

Why the name Duckie Brown?
We've called each other Duckie way before Duckie Brown, so whe it came to naming the collection, Duckie was the obvious choice.

What is the key behind the labels success?

Hard work, a bit of luck, and one vision.

What are the key components that every man should have in his wardrobe?

A white shirt and a dark suit.

How did the brand get started?

With just the two of us, back in 2001.

What is your favorite part about showing at NYFW?

Breathing a sigh of relief after the show.

Where do you see the brand in a few years down the road?

We don't have a crystal ball, but hopefullly we're still in business.

What are your favorite magazines/newspapers/books to read?

Out Magazine.
What sets you apart from other menswear designers?

Grant Woolhead, our stylist.
Who are some of your favorite designers?

Dries Van Noten, Comme des Garcons, and Dame Vivienne Westwood

What is the story behind this collection?

The story continues....
Who do you both look up to? In terms of personal life?

We don't look up, we look straight ahead.
What is the most hectic thing about fashion week? The most rewarding?

For both, it's that we show a collection.
