Sandra Bernhard, Catherine Curtin, John Bartlett, and others have come together for this important cause.

On Monday, October 12, LGBT leaders, tastemakers, and activists will come together for a special Where Love Is Illegal fundraising event in New York City, in support of global charities. Celebrated photographer and activist Robin Hammond has spent more than a decade documenting human rights struggles in sub-Saharan Africa. During that time, he bore witness to the alarming rise in homophobia, a development that inspired him to team up with designer Erin Joy to create the project designed to capture and share the personal stories of LGBT people in anti-gay societies.

With attendees such as Sandra Bernhard, Catherine Curtin, John Bartlett, Robin Hammond, Fabiola Beracasa, Peter Davis, Harold Smith-Franzen, and Dr. David Colbert, the event will feature photography by C215 (Christian Guemy), music by DJ Kris Graham, and a silent auction.

The special event is a pre-opening of an exhibition of the pieces at the LGBT Center in Manhattan's West Village. There are special early bird ticket specials, available until Friday, October 9. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the website.
