Earlier this year, Polis helped introduce a bill to abolish the military draft, unused since 1973. In 2015, he took some heat for suggesting that students accused of rape on college campuses should be expelled whether or not they've gotten due process, a position he later described as going too far. Polis sits on the House committees on education and the workforce, natural resources, and rules. He and U.S. Congressman Mark Takano just launched the Equality PAC to encourage LGBT and pro-LGBT candidates for federal office.
