Cicilline faced off against conservatives when he introduced the Equality Act -- which would expand the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include protections for LGBTs -- and a bill that would ban perpetrators of hate crimes from gun ownership. He serves on a congressional task force to advocate for LGBT elders, as well as the Equality PAC, which supports pro-LGBT candidates running for federal office.
