An upcoming homoerotic thriller is getting quite a bit of social media buzz. And it's not because of the film's controversial topics.
The Breeding (yes, that's actually the title) stars Marcus Bellamy. You might recognize the name, as Bellamy is a Broadway dancer who's appeared in titles like Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Tarzan, and Kat McPhee's gone-too-soon TV landmark, Smash. But more likely, you recognize Bellamy because he was charged with second-degree murder after he confessed (in a Facebook post) to killing his boyfriend in 2016, shortly after The Breeding wrapped.
If that's not enough of a dark fact for you, the plot of the film should satisfy that mood. The film is described as a "post-Obama LGBTQ erotic thriller." It stars Bellamy as Thomas, a black artist living in New York, who meets a white guy named Lee (Joe MacDougal) at a gallery opening. As they engage in a racially-charged affair, their consensual erotic race play evolves into something dark and dangerous.
The Breeding premieres next month in select theaters.
