In the latest blow to what might be the worst buzz about a summer movie ever, the new theme for Ghostbusters hit YouTube this week and the response has been...lackluster...at best.
The song itself, which is approximately 100% forgettable immediately upon hearing it, features a mish-mashy Fall Out Boy covering (we use that term loosely) the original Ray Parker, Jr. theme from 1984 and a rap cameo by the one and only Missy Elliott.
Regardless of the politics that have come up regarding the reception of this film (the backlash to the backlash, claiming that naysayers are sexist for poo-pooing a film that recasts the iconic Ghostbusters as women), we're still in the let's-give-it-a-shot boat, because, Leslie Jones.
And for a real Missy fix? Just take a look at her somewhat overlooked single from last fall featuring Pharrell Williams, the wacky-fun "WTF."
Ghostbusters, starring Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, will be released July 15th.
Take a listen to the new theme, and be judgy for yourselves:
