Bryan Singer Talks Apocalypse and X-Men Mythos

Bryan Singer

Few have as much insight into the mutants as Singer.

For the last 15 years Bryan Singer has been working on taking the X-Men, one of the most iconic groups of comic book characters, from the sacred pages of Marvel to the big screen.

Now, in the midst of bringing En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, to the mainstream supervillain scene, Singer has chosen Instagram as his platform to give fans behind-the-scenes peaks at the film's production ahead of its May 2016 release date.

"There's something deep-seeded in the mythology of X-Men, in the idea of identity," Singer said in an Instagram blog interview. "The feeling of being an outsider - it strikes at the core of every growing person."

In Apocalypse, Singer will introduce us to a young Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), Psylocke, played by Olivia Munn, and Apocalypse himself, played by Oscar Isaac, alongside plenty of recognizable characters from previous films.
