Oprah's Maya Angelou Stamp Dedication Caused a Blackout Because, Duh

Yet Oprah could still hear the caged bird singing...

The sister-friendship between Oprah and Maya Angelou was one of the greatest accomplishments of the 20th century so naturally Queen Winfrey should have the honor of dedicating the new Forever Stamp commemorating the legendary poetess.

O was on hand yesterday in Washington D.C. to unveil the stamp, but apparently the Warner Theater was overcome by emotion or at the very least, an unpaid light bill.

"And I'm honored to be here to stand as her daughter, sister, friend," O began, "at the unveiling of the Maya Forever...Forever!...stamp." Almost on cue, the power went out and the audience was plunged into darkness with only the voice of God -- Oprah -- to guide them.

"No doubt about it," Winfrey's disembodied voice echoed through the dark. "NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!" Perhaps she was responding to a tech person, who proclaimed "We've lost power!" Or maybe she was just deciding the probability of said tech person losing his job and maybe life.

One could also argue that the sudden blackout was Maya's way of throwing shade from beyond the grave for that misattributed quote gracing her stamp. And still she rises.
