Anyone who's seen The Producers knows that putting together a Broadway musical is an expensive proposition. Recently the big machers on the Great White Way have sought to minimize their financial risk by making shows from already successful songs (read: Mamma Mia) and stories (Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark).
While that might work for a good many things, it's not a sure-fire bet. Case in point: the inappropriate musicals from last night's Corden. Musical theater legend Nathan Lane and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star, Rachel Bloom, stopped by The Late Late Show to put some film classics to music.
What we get are "I'll Be Back," "Mr. Exorcist Man," and a very jaunty version of the "what's in the box" scene at the end of Se7en. Should these be made? Hell no, but it's a good thing they tried.
